What is communication?

Communication (lat. communicare „share, inform, let someone participate, unify“) usually names the process of exchanging mind in speech, gesture, facial expression, script or picture between humans. Examples of human communication are the sharing of knowledge and experiences, the giving or receiving of orders and cooperation.

In the broader sense is communication the alternately transmission of data or signals which have a defined meaning also between animal and herbal creatures and technical objects or systems. A common characterisation of communication within the arts is the sender-receiver model. It says that communication can only happen if there are at least two participants, whereas both act alternating as sender and receiver. Thereby it is arbitrative that sender and receiver dispose of a at least akin coding of the transferred messages, so that they are able to interpret the received signals.
